This lithograph by George E. Norris (1855-1926) shows most of the village of Lisbon in 1883. This railroad station appears in the lower center of the drawing to the right of where Central Street crosses the railroad tracks. The main mill of Parker-Young Manufacturing Co. shown in the insert was farther south along the tracks (to the left) where the DCI furniture manufacturing business is now located.
So-called birds-eye drawings of American communities were very popular in the latter part of the 19th Century and have been a valuable resource for historians. The artist George Norris produced such drawings of several communities in Northern New England.
A GREAT GIFT FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!
