WE NEED YOUR HELP

Please call us, email us, or stop by the museum if you would like to be involved in our organization by helping staff our beautiful museum, work with other volunteers and board members on special projects, or use your special talents or skills to enhance our work, exhibits, and/or events.

DONATE

We accept all “objects of history” that relate to Lisbon, Lyman, and Landaff, as well as the State of New Hampshire and the White Mountains. Our archivist accessions each item, and each item is properly displayed or stored for future exhibit.

Every item in our lasting museum tells a story and helps give us a picture of what life was like in our towns from the 1700s to the recent past. We can learn about and celebrate the past, and most importantly we can preserve it through donations made to our museum collection and promote our rich history to the public.

Please consider helping us preserve and promote our past. Items to consider donating to the Lisbon Area Historical Society Museum include household, farming, business, church, and school items, photographs, maps, legal documents, letters, diaries, journals, clothing and accessories, textiles, toys, books, postcards and other ephemera, artwork, musical instruments, genealogy collections, military items, souvenirs, and more. AND, your donation may be tax deductible.

one of our fabulous artifacts

c. early 1800s cobalt blue courting lamp from the Young-Cobleigh Tavern, Lisbon

When a young woman was to have a suitor call, the father or man of the house would choose to fill this sweet, little lamp with as much oil to keep a flame going as he felt the suitor deserved to spend courting. When the flame went out, the suitor was to leave.

PARTICIPATE IN OUR COMMUNITY SHOWCASE

For LAHS members only: If you have a collection you would like to share with our museum visitors, we have a space for you!. Please contact us. Right now we have a wonderful showcase about Doug and Deb Erbs’ Landaff Creamery and their award winning cheese. They have sold their family farm and no longer make their famous farmstead cheese, so the showcase is all the more important as a part of our area community history. Thanks, Doug and Deb.
